Higher Learning

Proverbs is a great book for college-age kids. It treats you like an adult and tells you straight-on the benefits of living for the Lord and the consequences of turning away. Their lessons cannot be learned in the classroom or on-line, but only from God.

At the first God’s wisdom “calls aloud in the street,” but ignored, it “will laugh at your disaster” and “mock when calamity overtakes you.” While it is true that God is never far from any of us, a hardening of heart that follows repeated rejection can silence the voice of God. “The complacency of fools will destroy them.”

My children, Seth and Elisabeth, I know the time is coming when mom's and dad's influence fades into the background of your ambitions, careers and, perhaps, families. But I trust God will make you wise and you will become fixed in His love and committed to His Church. Love you both, Dad.
