Oh hypocrisy!

O hypocrisy! You were there in the beginning when you misrepresented God and promised Adam and Eve life instead of death. (Genesis 3)
Oh hypocrisy! You lived in David when he boiled over after hearing Nathan's story of the rich man who took the poor man's ewe lamb (2 Samuel 12). He did not see you in his adultery and murder.
O hypocrisy! You inspired a nation to honor God with their lips while their hearts were far away (Isaiah 29).
O hypocrisy! You blinded the Pharisees, "beautiful on the outside," so they could not see that inside they were full of death. (Matthew 23)
O hypocrisy! You conspired with Ananias and his wife, Sapphira, to pledge all while while holding back in secret. (Acts 5)
Oh hypocrisy! You are the sin of sins, the opposite of truth and the obstacle to God's work in me.
Oh Lord, teach me to value my integrity above all else and to strive to be beautiful on the inside where only your eyes see.
