Teacher Travels

My wife recently returned from an educational trip to the South Western United States exploring ancient Native American cultures. It began at Arches National Park and continued south to Edge of the Cedars (a prehistoric Pueblo Indian ruin) and then Mesa Verde (home of the Pueblo "cliff dwellers" as early as A.D. 600).

Suzanne and four other teachers from Washington Elementary School spend part of every summer experiencing history and culture and bringing it back into the classroom. Recent travels have included Yellowstone and Mt. Rushmore, Mozart in Austria and volcanoes in Hawaii. The balance of the summer is spent building a school-wide theme around these experiences.

While the grant that makes these educational trips possible does not include spouses, I have profited from them each year. For example I am now munching on genuine Rattlesnake Eggs (chocolate covered sunflower seeds).
