Father's Day

Fatherhood was a long time coming for me. Married for seven years, we watched as our friends had babies like turning on a faucet. We were happy for them but felt like the opportunity for family was passing us by. We had all but decided to adopt when Suzanne became pregnant with our first child, a son.

That first year was the hardest financially, but I hardly noticed for the joy of being a parent. Next year God blessed us with a daughter. About that time my toddler son began mouthing the word, "DaDa," a name I never tire of hearing. Twenty-one Father's Days have past and I still marvel at the gift of being a Dad.
